Petersburg LIO

About Our Office:

The Petersburg LIO is part of a statewide, non-partisan network that connects Alaskans with their legislature as well as with other state and federal government officials, agencies and programs. The public can turn to the LIO for help with documents, research, updates on legislation, laws, regulations, budgets, government programs and video/audio of legislative hearings and other events. The office facilitates verbal or written testimony to the legislature by phone, internet and local teleconferences. We help constituents communicate directly with individual lawmakers and their staff. The LIO also helps the public navigate the legislature’s website: akleg.gov as well as other state and federal sites. We can provide copies of/assistance with many government forms and applications on paper and online. For instance, the Petersburg LIO helped over 200 Petersburg-area residents apply for the Permanent Fund Dividend in 2023. We offer onsite certification and transmission of required ID documents to the PFD division. The LIO can connect you with the right agency/official who can answer your questions, and/or provide the services you need. If you have a government-related query, give us a try. If we can’t provide the information or assistance you need, we can probably find someone who can! The Petersburg LIO is located downtown on North Nordic Drive and Gjoa Street at the back of the Petersburg-Wrangell Insurance building. A bright yellow sign hangs above the sidewalk entrance door. We look forward to serving you.
